Smoking Cessation – detailed information
The Smoking Cessation Seminar from Simulation Tirol is for anyone who wants to approach quitting smoking with a solid scientific foundation and lasting results, whether as a smoker or as a healthcare professional supporting patients on their journey to a smoke-free life. The 4-hour course takes place at our training center near Innsbruck (Hall in Tirol) and combines medical knowledge with proven behavioral change methods.
The first part of the seminar explains the neurobiology of nicotine dependence in an accessible way: Why is nicotine addictive? Which receptors are involved? Why is withdrawal so difficult? Building on this foundation, the three most important pharmacological support options are presented: nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, spray), varenicline, and bupropion, with their respective mechanisms of action, success rates, and side effect profiles.
In the second part, participants develop their personal smoking cessation plan. Using a structured trigger analysis, individual risk situations are identified and concrete alternative strategies are developed. Cognitive behavioral techniques help break automated thought patterns and prevent relapse. Small group exercises train the fundamentals of motivational interviewing, valuable both for personal motivation and professional counseling.
The course fee of EUR 195 incl. VAT includes comprehensive seminar materials with a relapse prevention guide, certificate of attendance, beverages, and snacks. Payment conveniently by invoice. Additional dates available on request, also bookable as a private event for companies, practices, hospitals, or support groups.
