PALS – detailed information
The PALS Course (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) at Simulation Tirol is a two-day training program specifically for pediatric medical emergencies, held at our simulation center in Hall in Tirol near Innsbruck. Like the ACLS course, PALS is recognized as an emergency physician refresher under §40 and awards 18 DFP and CME credits for physicians, emergency physicians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses in Austria, Germany, and South Tyrol.
Training covers the complete PALS algorithms according to AHA and ERC guidelines on a Gaumard pediatric simulator capable of realistically representing neonates, infants, toddlers, and school-age children up to 12 years. Key topics include respiratory failure, asthma and bronchospasm, anaphylaxis, septic and hypovolemic shock, myocarditis, and shockable rhythms. You will practice infant and child BLS, age-appropriate airway management, intraosseous access, emergency medications, and defibrillation on the pediatric patient.
The course is designed across disciplines: whether you are an emergency physician in prehospital care, a trauma surgeon in the resuscitation bay, an anesthesiologist in the OR, or a nurse on the pediatric ICU, the scenarios cover both prehospital and in-hospital settings. Small groups of no more than 8 participants, intensive video debriefing, and both written and practical final examinations.
Our training center is conveniently located in Hall in Tirol, accessible by car via the A12 (exit Hall West) or by train from Innsbruck central station in just 10 minutes. We can arrange hotel rooms at the neighboring Landgasthof Bogner for those traveling from Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Munich, Rosenheim, or Bolzano. Free parking and catering included, payment by invoice, fully tax-deductible as continuing medical education.
